Battle of Armageddon - Final War - Israel - Jews
The end of this age will conclude with an enormous battle involving the antichrist's armies and the nation of Israel. The Lord will draw the antichrist and his armies into a battle with Israel, for the purpose of destroying these wicked forces at His second coming and saving the remnant of Israel. These events are prophesied in the scriptures and will not be averted by prayer.
Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-14, 16 NKJV)
I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land. (Joel 3:2 NKJV)
The book of Joel, Ezekiel 38-39:1-8, Revelation 19:11-21, Zechariah 12:1-9, Zechariah 14:1-5, and Zachariah 14:12-15 all speak about the battle that is coming against Israel. Zechariah 13:8 states that: it shall come to pass in all the land,” Says the LORD, “ That two-thirds in it shall be cut off and die, But one –third shall be left in it.
Two thirds of the Israeli population is going to die and half of the city of Jerusalem will go into captivity in this war (Zechariah 14:2). Then when the power of Israel is almost completely crushed by the antichrist's armies; Jesus will return and save the remnant of the Jewish people (Zechariah 14:3-5). The remnant of the Jews will receive their Savior and King. They will look upon the one who they pierced and weep for rejecting Him (Zechariah 12:10).
The scriptures are clear that only a remnant of the people of Israel will be saved (two-thirds will be killed).
“Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, The remnant will be saved.” Romans 9:27 NKJV
Some have reasoned that all of the people of Israel will be saved as the following verse states.
“And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;” Romans 11:26 NKJV
We must put the above verse in context with the rest of the scriptures. We cannot simply take one verse and develop a doctrine around it. After two-thirds of the Jewish people are killed in war, Jesus will come out of the Heavenly Zion and destroy the antichrist armies, thus saving the remnant. All of Israel that is alive at the second coming of Jesus will be saved (not all the people of Israel who are alive right now). Our prays, will, and false religious doctrines will not change this fact.
Revelation Chapter 19 records that Jesus is returning with the armies of Heaven with Him. It says that Jesus' robe is dipped in blood because He treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of God Almighty. Jesus is coming back as a Warrior, the Captain of the host, and the great King/Judge. He will personally kill the armies of the antichrist. Jesus will slay men, and their blood will spray on His garments. This is the wrath of God:
Who is this who comes from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah, This One who is glorious in His apparel, Traveling in the greatness of His strength?— “I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.” Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress? “I have trodden the winepress alone, And from the peoples no one was with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, And trampled them in My fury; Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, And I have stained all My robes. For the day of vengeance is in My heart, And the year of My redeemed has come. I looked, but there was no one to help, And I wondered That there was no one to uphold; Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me; And My own fury, it sustained Me. I have trodden down the peoples in My anger, Made them drunk in My fury, And brought down their strength to the earth.” (Isaiah 63:1-6 NKJV)
The second coming of Jesus will be a fearful day of wrath and darkness for those who do not know Him:
The noise of a multitude in the mountains, Like that of many people! A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The LORD of hosts musters The army for battle. They come from a far country, From the end of heaven— The LORD and His weapons of indignation, To destroy the whole land. Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. Therefore all hands will be limp, Every man’s heart will melt, And they will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a woman in childbirth; They will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be like flames. Behold, the day of the LORD comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate; And He will destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine. “I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold, A man more than the golden wedge of Ophir. Therefore I will shake the heavens, And the earth will move out of her place, In the wrath of the LORD of hosts And in the day of His fierce anger. (Isaiah 13:4-13 NKJV)
